Hmmm. I’m not sure how to parse the title (which reminds me of John Wyndham’s short story “the Kraken wakes”, based on Tennyson’s line “the Kraken sleeps).
Is “what” a question and “dreams” a verb, wondering whose dream this is?
Or is “what” an exclamation and “dreams” a noun, expressing surprise at the nature of the dreams?
Or am I (as my wife says) analysing too much?
After Amanda's parents divorce, Amanda and her mom relocate to a new town. Amanda's trying to be cooperative about the move, but her mom won't explain why they're there, or even how she heard of the place. As Amanda explores the town and begins to unravel a decades-old disappearance--or more than one--she starts to fear she's in danger too. But as her mom's behavior grows ever more detached and bizarre, will Amanda be able to escape the town's strange pull?
