Oh my gosh, I was so distracted by Amanda and Cary, I forgot to say that the Kickstarter campaign to make a print copy of Ninecrow is LIVE!!
Check out the page for all the details--what the funds are for, what you can get by backing the campaign, etc. I’d be so thrilled if you’d like to support it! Even a pledge of a dollar will be super helpful, especially in the first day or two.
Getting a high number of backers in the first 24-48 hours is how you get enough momentum to be selected as one of KS’s “Projects We Love”...that means the project shows up on the front page, gets more promotion, and hopefully draws in backers outside my immediate family, haha :)
Sharing and viewing the page is also really helpful–page views help boost the page ranking too! So even if you can’t chip in, take a look at the page and tell your friends :) Thanks so much!
If you are able to back, I've got a special bonus for backing early...
No need to do anything special to get the early bird bonus--just pledge at any level and I'll message you with your PDFs! (If you already pledged, not to worry--you're on the list to receive the bonus!)
Tune in for Crowdfunding Roundtable this Friday!
If you're interested in hearing more about comics creation, this Friday night I’m going to be guesting on a fun podcast/livestream called Crowdfunding Roundtable, hosted by Will Allred and Kevin Joseph. Each episode they have three or four comic creators on talking about their projects and art, writing, and comics in general. It should be a really fun conversation!
Tune in at 8 pm PT/11pm ET on Kevin’s YouTube page, or on the Addicted to Podcasting Facebook page.

He’s not sure? Raise the stakes, lower, the bar, and create a new frame.
That is one smart girl

I was about to screech awww till I saw this comment

The two are no incompatible. She obviously cares for him and wants him to get out alive. If that means moving the first kiss forward a little so he will be motivated to survive long enough for a second kiss that is what she has to do. And good on her for it!

I’m so glad Amanda isn’t a damsel in distress

….. “This is NOT going to turn into ‘And the only I am escaped to tell thee.’ “

Oh wow, I had to google that! Great reference 🙂
…and, well….no comment 😳

It might, but not if she has anything to say about it. Hiding from cultists, a kiss at the right time or a frying pan upside a serial killer’s head. So far Our Gal is doing a good job, and it would be a refreshing change for the Heroine to save herself and the Boy.

Is this really the same Amanda who was embarrassed by the word “date” a while ago? I can’t believe that Ninecrow is going to finish on a mushy Hollywood-style happy ending (or worse, Disney-style) so what’s next?

The artwork really sets the tone for Ninecrow. So many of the panels are pretty eerie! Our amazing author should consider something like an “Easter Egg” for fans of her other works like “The Curse of Crooked Mile”. Something only fans would pick up on, but not critical to the flow of the story. Like a desk in the background of a panel with “Mortimius” carved on it at the abandoned school … or slip a partial pic of Owen on the side of the attic yearbook where Amanda found info on Rose Sullivan. Just food for thought. 🙂

Yes … I’ll admit it. Been a fan of “Easter Eggs” ever since I saw and old Hitchcock movie (he used himself as the Easter Egg). Always fun to catch a subtle reference.

Easter eggs are the best, and I love spotting a Hitch appearance 🙂 Now, I *did* plant some Crooked Mile Easter eggs in Haunted Serpent…and in my mind Black Valley is in the same general neighborhood as both of those…so it would make sense for something to crop up somewhere–hmm!

I didn’t even know you had posted more comics until I got a email for the kickstarter. Wish I could fund but I have like, 70 dollars right now? And I have no idea how to use digital money. But I love ninecrow and I hope it gets in books a millon some day so I can have it in my hands!

Oh wow, sorry about that! My email updates were pretty spotty there for a long time. I’m trying to be more diligent about emailing when there’s a new page these days!
I’m basically unemployed right now so I feel ya on the broke thing 🙂 The good thing is, now I’ll have books on hand thanks to the Kickstarter funds, and maybe someday I’ll be able to get one to you! Meanwhile, I just appreciate you reading and commenting, it means the world.
