Oh, this is not good at all. What did they do to him? How much of him is left?

I don’t know what to think here. From the next-to-last panel, Cary is clearly worried about Amanda. But those eyes…..

Black Valley doesn’t seem to be on the list…

Cary looks like he has aged 20 to 30 years. Love that subtle yet strong change to his face. Other than time travel or the Stepford process of integration, I wonder what happened to him. What did he see or experience? Amanda, will you come back as aged and with those same empty eyes?

We’re entering the final stretch for Ninecrow. I wanted to take a moment to express my admiration for Dora Mitchell’s art form. The shadowing, the dark patches that are found near objects like windows or doors, the faces(!), the town of Black Valley, all the eerie backgrounds that subconsciously pull you deeper into Amanda’s story. There are some great authors of webcomics and graphic novels … but many of them are teams where the authors and illustrators are separate people. It’s rare indeed to find an author who possesses the talent to do it all. One of the many reasons I’ve become such a Ninecrow fan!

And doesn’t her mother look 10 years younger now?

*I* think she does! 🙂
About Ninecrow
After Amanda's parents divorce, Amanda and her mom relocate to a new town. Amanda's trying to be cooperative about the move, but her mom won't explain why they're there, or even how she heard of the place. As Amanda explores the town and begins to unravel a decades-old disappearance--or more than one--she starts to fear she's in danger too. But as her mom's behavior grows ever more detached and bizarre, will Amanda be able to escape the town's strange pull? Updates Mondays and Fridays.Archives
